Technical details for ready to use PCR for Bovine viral diarrhae virus (BVDV)

100 reactions gel agarose

Bovine viral diarrhae virus is a RNA virus affecting ruminants resulting into heavy economic losses in domestic cattle herds. Its infection can result in persistant carriers among the animals, therefore it is essential to identify these persistant carriers as they will act the source of continuous virus infection resulting in causing the disease as well as creating new carriers, therefore it is essential to detect them as early as possible as these latent carriers, there will be little chance that these carry antibodies, hence the serological tests are of little use, therefore PCR is the method of choice for quick identifications of such carriers against the cell culture methods, which can take long time to give the results.
