Technical data sheet for real time PCR for Epstein Barr Virus for 100 reactions

Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) is the causative agent of infectious monocleosis and it may be also be found in a wide variety of benign and malignant lesions including oral hairy leukoplakia, inflammatory pseudotumor, Hodgkin´s disease, non-Hogdkin´s lymphoma, nasopharyngeal carcinoma as well as gastic carcinoma. As EBV is the causative agent of nasopharyngeal carcicoma (NPC), which is most important cancer in soouthern China and southeast Asia in Hongkong. All NPC cases are undifferentiated or poorly differentiated squamous cell carcicoma and harbor EBV in tumor tissues. Recently cell free EBV DNA has been detected in the plasma as well as serum of patients with NPC. Real time PCR can be used to quantify the amount of EBV in the probe.

Target gene: highly conversed DNA sequence of EBV

Samples: serum and plasma, tissue (including nervous tissue).

Contents of the kit: primerns, probes with dyes 6-carboxy-fluorscein, YYE and 6-carboxytetramethylrhodamine, nucleotides, buffer, molecular water, polymerase, positive control and negative control. It needs isolated DNA. The isolation can be done with good quality of commercial kits as well as home made method.

Detection limit: 10-100 copies of EBV

Validation: The test has been validated with related like Cytomegalo virus, HSV 1 and 2 etc and non related micro organisms.

Storage: -20 degree

To be used through technical person, only for research use, only for in vitro use.
