Technical data sheet (HSV) type 1 and 2 (real time)
Herpes simplex virus (HSV) type
1 and 2 (real time) for 100 reactions
Standard laboratory technique for herpes detection is cell culture as one
recognise the virus through cytopathic affects as well as later on serological
detection. HSV 1 and 2 infections overlap in many clinical samples and these
viruses have been isolated from skin, mucosa and visceral organs. Many studies
have shown that PCR is the reliable method to detect the herpes viruses as
well as other viruses. Moreover PCR is the fastest method as the results with
the real time PCR can be finished within 3-4 hours. Moreover one can see the
load of the virus in real time PCR and this can be monitored during the
preventative measurements.
Target gene: highly conserved region of g region of HSV 1 and 2
Kind of probes: body fluids like saliva, blood (serum), tissue biopsies, nerve
tissues, genital biopsies. This kit needs DNA, hence it should be isolated
with good quality commercial kit or home made method. Genekam Biotechnology AG
can ship you the 3rd party DNA isolation kit.
Key points: The kit has been checked for cross reactions with different herpes
viruses like EBV, CMV and of animal origin like Equine Herpes viruses, Koi´s
Herpes virus etc. and with non related micro organisms. They have been used
for the different dilutions and for the sensitivity.
Detection limit: 10-50 genome copies of HSV1 and HSV2
Components of the kit:
Contents of Kit: primern, fluorogenic primers (filter FAM to used in one step
PCR and filters FAM and VIC are to be used in 2 step PCR), nucleotides,
buffers, molecular water, negative control, positive control and manual. Dyes
used are 6-carboxy-fluorscein, YYE and 6-carboxytetramethylrhodamine.
Storage: -20 degree
Only for in vitro use
Only for research use
To be used through technical persons.
