Technical data sheet (Human polyoma virus)
100 reactions, gel agarose
The human polyoma virus (DNA virus) are known to infect a high proportion of
healthy indivuals usually in the absence of clinical symptoms. In
immunocomprised patients, however, these viruses can be reactivated from
latency and cause the disease. It may be possible that polyoma viruses can
reach brain and result in demyelination due to lytic infection of targeted
oligodendrocytes. As the areas of demyelination increase, symptoms of the
fatal disorder known as progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy become more
apparent. Similarly, reactivated viral infection can be lead to interstitial
nephritis, kidney allograft rejection. Therefore it is essential to detect
this virus. In order to detect this virus, one can work with serological
methods as well as cell culture methods, but these methods have the problems
of cross reactions or need longtime to give the results, therefore one should
use PCR method to detect this virus. Moreover PCR method can be finished on
the same day.
target gene: highly conserved gene of the virus
samples: human probes, blood, serum/plasma, tissue, nervous tissue, other body
fluids like urine etc. Our kit needs isolated DNA, which should be isolated
through good quality isolation kit or home made method.
keypoints: It has beeen checked for cross reactions with related and non
related viruses and micro organisms like Human Herpes virus, Legionella, HBV
etc.
contents of kit: polymerase, nucleotides, buffer, PCR master mix, positive
control, negative control, loading dye, molecular marker.
detection limit: 100 genome copies per reaction
storage: -20 degree
